“I love teaching teenagers and making them excited about learning language. Learning has to be fun and engaging so that students truly want to speak as much as possible!”

World Languages Department Chair Elisabeth Mansfield joined the Poly faculty in 2012. Liz teaches French and Italian. She uses a wide variety of techniques, activities, and games to generate student engagement in the language classroom. In her Italian class, she had students use virtual reality goggles to “visit” Rome. Liz loves traveling and speaking French, Italian, and Spanish, and she has a special place in her heart for Quebec. She presented a Kastendieck Lecture at Poly on the topic of linguistic insecurity and the Québecois population.
